The Slab-Side Dining Chair replaces four legs with two solid timber slabs. Each side is a single wide board of ash that runs from floor to back, with the seat suspended between them. The look is architectural and calm, and on a hard floor it is noticeably stable.
The seat is upholstered in a stone grey leather-look finish with a soft rounded edge. The back is a timber panel with an upholstered pad that wraps over its top edge like a folded cushion, so the part you lean against is soft and the outside stays timber.
Repair and reuse. Seat and back pad are separate upholstered parts fixed with screws, so either can be re-covered without touching the timber. The slabs themselves can be sanded and re-oiled when they scuff.
Construction. Solid ash side slabs, seat and back on plywood cores, joined with concealed steel brackets and bolts.
Where it works. Contemporary restaurants with solid timber tables, hotel restaurants, private dining and boardroom-style tasting rooms.
Options. Timber species and stain, seat and back covering in wool, recycled-content fabric or leather.
