The Cane Loveseat with Loose Cushions is a compact two-seater that keeps every soft part replaceable. Two square back cushions and the seat cushion are all loose, in a beige leather-look finish, resting against a frame of stained solid timber with a band of natural cane along the top of the back and the arms.
The base is an open rectangle of timber rails rather than a closed box, so it is easy to clean under and uses less material. Solid panelled arms close the ends and give somewhere to rest a glass.
Why loose cushions. Fixed upholstery wears unevenly: the outer edge and front lip go first. Loose cushions can be flipped and rotated to spread wear, and when they do wear out you replace a cushion, not a booth.
Construction. Solid timber frame, mortise-and-tenon joints, cane woven into removable framed panels, cushions with zipped covers over replaceable foam.
Where it works. Hotel bars, lounges, two-person tables in cafés and as a softer counterpoint opposite chairs in a restaurant.
Options. Stain, cane or timber panel for the back band, cushion covering and a longer three-seat version.
