Honest joinery makes a good table last. This one shows how it is built: four straight, square-section legs in walnut-tone timber rise past the stone top, and the tops of the legs show as small, square end-grain blocks at each corner of the table. You can see where timber meets stone.
The top is a calm, pale grey sintered stone with one long white vein running diagonally. A narrow warm pewter-coloured metal band sits under the stone's edge, so the stone appears to float just above the frame. The surface is non-porous, which helps in a restaurant where tables are wiped many times a day.
Built to be maintained. The legs are separate solid timber parts. They can be sanded and re-oiled, and the stone top can be lifted away from the base without cutting anything apart.
Where it works. Restaurants that want a calm, grown-up room: neutral booth fabrics, pale oak floors, quiet colour.
