The Live-Edge Slab Booth uses timber at its most honest: thick slabs cut straight through the log, with the natural wavy edge left on. The back, both ends and the front apron are each a single slab, so the grain, knots and edge line are different on every piece we make.
Upholstery is reduced to one loose seat cushion in an oatmeal weave, sitting on a timber deck. There is no fixed back padding; guests lean against oiled wood, which in a warm room is more comfortable than it sounds and will never need re-covering.
Why slabs. Solid timber can be sanded, re-oiled and repaired for decades, and at end of life it is still timber, not a laminate of foam, glue and fabric. The loose cushion is the only soft part, and it can be replaced on its own.
Construction. Kiln-dried hardwood slabs, stabilised and filled where needed, joined with concealed bolts and dowels so the booth can be taken apart for moving. Finished with a hard-wax oil that can be spot-repaired.
Options. Timber species and slab selection on request, length, depth, cushion fabric and an optional back cushion for longer sittings.
