This booth's frame is built from 4 × 4 cm black steel box section joined at bolted nodes, each node covered by a 6 cm brass square cap with hex nuts. There are no welds anywhere in the frame; triangular braces under the seat carry the load. The upholstered back and seat cushions sit within the frame.
Welded frames that bend in transit or are damaged in service usually have to be scrapped. A bolted frame can be repaired by replacing a single member. It also ships as a compact kit and needs no specialist installation: two people with a hex key can assemble a section in a short time.
At end of life the steel, brass and upholstery separate cleanly by material. The brass caps make the construction a visible design feature. Bolts are specified to stay tight under commercial loads; the parts list records every member.
